Pineland Passiflora is a long-lived perennial. It tolerates full sun to full shade and wet to somewhat moist soil. This plant does not do well in flooded areas or areas subject to sea spray (not salt tolerant). The vine can reach 20 feet wide and is perfect for a trellis. The flowers are purple and white. They open in the morning and close in the evening. This vine blooms in the Fall. The fruit is great food for wildlife. It does not attract butterflies like the other Passiflora species do. Host plant for the 4 longwing butterflies - Zebra longwing, Gulf fritillary, Julia, Varieagated fritillary
