Partridge Berry (Mitchella repens L.) is a trailing vine that grows approximately 1-2 feet in partial to full shade. The vine roots itself in the ground and produces pinkish-white flowers and edible red berries. While birds harvest the berries, it can be eaten raw or used to make jams, sauces or pies. Taste varies from bland to tart similar to cranberries. It's leaves can be used to make herbal/medicinal teas.
