Small flower pawpaw (Asimina parviflora) is a long-lived perennial that grows to approx. 6-8 feet tall with small brownish-purple, six-petaled flowers. It prefers loose, well-drained soils. When you first plant it, it requires partial shade but will tolerate full sun once established. It has a long taproot so be sure you know where you want it to remain as transplanting is difficult with tap roots 5' or more.
The fruit of Dwarf Pawpaw is smaller than other pawpaws but is edible raw and may be used in cooking. Pawpaw leaves are the only plant Zebra Swallowtail butterfly caterpillars will eat.
