Dwarf Simpson's Stopper (Myrcianthes fragrans, compacta ) is a shrub that may grow to approximately 3-4 feet tall and wide. It will tolerate full sun or partial shade with moist but well-drained calcareous or sandy soil. It produces showy white flowers that resemble tiny fireworks which bloom throughout spring and summer. Birds consume the reddish-orange fruit and it's a great nectar source for bees and butterflies. It's called a "stopper" because it was used medicinally to treat diarrhea.
