Garberia (Garberia heterophylla) is a long-lived perennial, evergreen shrub that is native to central Florida that can live up to 50 years! It grows in sandhill and scrubby flatwood areas and likes dryer conditions with full sun to partial shade. It is adapted to Florida's hot and humid climate and is not salt tolerant. Garberia typically grows to be about 5' feet tall and 5' wide. It produces pretty clusters of small pinkish to lavender flowers in the spring and summer yielding an attractive fruit. It is a valuable plant for attracting our native pollinators such as bees and butterflies to the garden.
