Also known as Broombush and Falsewillow, Dwarf Salt Bush (Baccharis dioca) is a long-lived perennial, woody shrub. It may grow 3 to 6 feet and produces white to yellow flowers with white fruit. It prefers full sun to light shade in humus or lime rock with a high PH level (calcareous). Plant spacing should be 3 to 5 feet as this spreads. This is a very versatile plant as it will tolerate soggy soil but is also drought tolerant. This is a great nectar plant for butterflies including monarchs.
