Commonly known as rue, common rue or herb-of-grace, is a species of Ruta grown as an ornamental plant and herb. It is native to the Balkan Peninsula. It is now grown throughout the world in gardens, especially for its bluish leaves, and sometimes for its tolerance of hot and dry soil conditions. It is also cultivated as a medicinal herb, as a condiment, and to a lesser extent as an insect repellent. Although we are a native nursery, we are focused on pollinators. This herb is the host plant for the Eastern Black Swallowtail and Giant Swallowtail. So this is why we make this plant available.
Please note- It is highly recommended to wear gloved when handling rue. Rue can cause rash and blisters which worsen when exposed to full sun.
