Grow your own butterflies non-stop! This low maintenance shrub is quick to establish. Common names include blue butterfly bush, blue glory bower and butterfly bush. This is one of the few non-natives we carry that has a native range of tropical eastern Africa. We carry it since it has 1.5" light blue to violet flowers-shaped like a butterfly, complete with antennae and we love butterflies! Each flower has a darker blue lower petal. This is an evergreen shrub that can be 4-6' tall and up to 6' as wide. It can be easily propagated from cuttings. The plant grows easily in soils that are moist, well-drained, and have plenty of organic matter. I grown mine in a pot in the middle of my butterfly garden. It requires consistent watering, so if you have sprinklers and water a couple times a week that works well. It tolerates full sun to part shade. It blooms spring to late fall and sometimes even in our Florida winter it keeps blooming! It is considered non-invasive. Mine is growing well in zone 10a with zero attention!
