Buttonbush aka Button Willow, Honey Bells, Globe Flower, and Little Snowball - this is a fast-growing deciduous long-lived perennial shrub/small tree ideal for wet areas and rain gardens.  It occurs in swamps, ponds, and stream banks throughout Florida.  It grows about 5-20' tall and 4-8' wide. The flowers are unusual, long-lasting, boldly aromatic flowers that lure in passing butterflies, bees, and other pollinators. It flowers from early spring to late summer. The flower ball can be an inch or more across. The fruit is brown in color. The foliage is poisonous to livestock and humans.  This plant can be propagated by seed or hardwood cuttings. For our Lepidoptera friends, it is the host plant to several moths including titan sphinx (Aellopos titan) and hydrangea sphinx (Darapsa versicolor) moths.
