Camphor Daisy (Heterotheca subaxillaris) is an herbaceous shrub with yellow-orange flowers that may grow up to 3 feet high and spread 10-20 feet.  Plant it in dry to well-drained sandy soil with full sun exposure.  This plant is highly drought resistant and will grow in poor soil.  Bees, butterflies and other pollinators are attracted. It self sows but can be propagated by collecting seeds when the flower heads appear brown and “fuzzy.” The leaves give off a camphor-like aroma when crushed, hence its name.  This wildflower can be weedy.  Used to treat heat rash, burns, itches and to ease menstrual pain.
