Florida Sunflower (Helianthus floridus) is a striking native perennial of the Southeastern Coastal Plain, most abundant in North Florida and southern Georgia. It thrives in moist to wet habitats and produces bright yellow blooms up to 3 inches across in fall, delighting pollinators and feeding songbirds. Reaching up to 6 feet tall and forming dense colonies, this species is best suited for large, open, wet sites such as lake edges, bog gardens, or sunny meadows. It spreads aggressively by rhizome and may outcompete other wildflowers in small or formal landscapes.
