Prickly Pear Cactus (Opuntia humifusa) is a long-lived perennial that produces yellow flowers which bloom from June to July and red fruit. It can grow 2-3 feet tall by 1-4 feet wide. It requires full sun with dry to very dry sandy soil and is drought tolerant. The entire plant is edible.
