Sorrelvine aka Possum-grape is a semi-evergreen sun loving vine with purple stems and thick rubbery leaves that climbs up to 30’ using tendrils. Flowers are creamy yellow, white, green or purple that bloom in spring or summer. It produces a small dark purple to black fruit, but it is NOT edible for humans. It grows well in full sun with either moist, well-drained or limestone soils and tolerates moderate amounts of salt wind and occasional inundation by salt water. For some, this leaves and sap can be a skin irritant. DO NOT EAT THIS PLANT, even the roots are poisonous. It is a host plant for the Cissus moth (Xerociris wilsonii).
