Orange Geiger (Cordea sebestena) is a slow growing tree that may reach 25-30 feet high with a spread of 20-25 feet. It produces showy clusters of orange flowers at the end of the branches followed by 1-2 inch hard pear-shaped green fruit that will turn white when ripe. The fruit does not attract wildlife and is not tasty. Growing in full sun to partial shade, this tree can be planted in clay, loam, sandy, acidic or alkaline soils and is both salt and drought tolerant. Do not plant where there is the slightest danger of frost.
