Florida Privet (Forestiera segregata) is an evergreen or deciduous tree or shrub in the olive family that may grow as tall as 10-15 feet. When mature, it spreads 5-10 feet. It is drought tolerant and will grow well in an area that gets full to part sun. Plant it in well-drained sandy soil with a neutral or alkaline PH. It is commin in dry sites. coastal hammocks, coastal scrub, and thickets. Requires pollination by pollinators. The green to yellow flowers followed by dark blue/purplish berries, makes it a great nectar resource for pollinators. This is a top nectar source for migrating monarchs in the fall.
