Guinea Hen Weed (Petiveria alliacea), also known as Gully Root, is a perennial shrub that may grow to approximately 3 feet tall. It produces greenish white flowers, requires partial shade with moist to dry soil. Its leaves, root and seeds contain disease-fighting compounds that's been used medicinally for years. This rare, Florida native plant has a pungent smell, similar to garlic, that is an effective insect repellant.
