Red Mulberry (Morus rubra) is a deciduous tree that will tolerate full sun or part shade. It produces white flowers and red edible berries. It grows in loam or sand with acid to alkaline pH levels and prefers usually moist to not extremely dry conditions. Its fruit can be used to make preserves, jams, pies and other sweets. The berries are often eaten by birds, mammals (squirrels, opposums, raccoons) and some reptiles (e.g. Eastern box turtle).
Different parts of the mulberry tree can be used for medicinal purposes to treat urinary tract issues, ringworm, intestinal issues and the root bark can be used to cure a multitude of illnesses.
