River Oats (Chasmanthium latifolium) is an ornamental grass that will tolerate full sun to partial shade and moist, well-drained dry loam or sandy soil. It grows in clumps as high as 2-5 feet and spreads 1-2.5 feet. It self-seeds and can spread aggressively. Small birds and other wildlife consume its seeds. It's the larval host plant to several skipper butterflies.
