A fascinating and unique passionflower, Incense is a hybrid of the North American Maypop (Passiflora incarnata) and the Brazilian Passiflora cincinnata. This is a short-lived perennial that can go winter dormant in the Tampa Bay area. It prefers full sun to part shade and moist to dry conditions. The plant can grow 8-10'. Incense produces large purple flowers followed by seed pods that contain juicy, tart pulp.
A caterpillar host for the Gulf Fritillary, Zebra Longwing, and other Heliconian butterflies.
