This perennial vine is a host plant for the Gulf fritillary, Zebra longwing, Variegated fritilary, and Julia butterflies. Bloom color is green and the flowers are a little larger than a quarter in size. It likes part shade to sun and grows in moist to dry soils. The berries can contain small amounts of cyanide when green and birds will eat the berries when ripe. The seeds/berries turn dark purple when ripe.
