This long-lived evergreen is a wonderful vine that is not super aggressive, easy to control and doesn't product suckers. The white flowers start out as a star shape and turn into what looks like little pom-poms. Birds enjoy the black fruit it produces. These flowers are tiny and frequently described as inconspicuous. Native to limestone habitats in South Florida, these plants like full sun to part shade and moist to dry soil. It is not salt tolerant. The plant is host to four native butterflies that are found in our area: Julias, Variegated fritillaries, Gulf fritillaries, and Zebra Longwings.
This is listed as an endangered species by the State of Florida.
