Lantana involucrata, known as Button Sage, is the only true Florida native lantana that grows as a native in the Tampa Bay area and finding it can be a challenge. It is an evergreen shrub which produces dense clusters of small, fragrant, whitish, pale pink to lavender flowers. Button Sage is common in coastal areas from Central Florida south. It likes well-drained soil and will take full to part sun. It can grow between 3-5' tall and about 1-5' spread. It is an excellent addition to butterfly gardens as its nectar is attractive to a variety of butterflies and other pollinators and it blooms year-round. It is drought- and salt-tolerant. It also works well as a hedge plant.
