Narrowleaf Ironweed (Vernonia angustifolia) is a perennial that can grow to approximately 2-4 feet high. It prefers full sun to partial shade and dry, sandy soil.
Ironweeds have numerous, small bright fuchsia flowers that remind us of tiny paper snowflakes. With a single plant able to produce hundreds of flowers and thousands of seeds, this plant attracts butterflies and belongs in every birder’s garden.
