Perennial Saltmarsh Aster has gotten a reputation for being a "weak straggly plant" but it plays an irreplicable role in the grassland and rushes of salt marsh. It is the only large-flowered species in these ecosystems giving it an important ecological role for bees. These adorable purple flowers are seen from summer to early winter. These plants do best in full sun with sandy, wet soil. They can reach up to four feet when put in the correct place.
