Quailberry (Crossopetalum ilicifolium) is a long-lived, small, perennial shrub. It produces showy, white flowers and showy, red fruit which can be enjoyed all year long. It makes a great groundcover in garden beds or plant in masses with other low-growing plants in a rock garden. It has interesting foliage and will tolerate full sun to part shade if planted in well-drained limerock or sandy soil with a high (calcareous) pH. The fruits will attract birds including quail, hence its name!
