Red Tip Cocoplum (Chrysobalanus icaco) is shrub or small tree that can grow to approximately 5-20 feet tall. They can be 3-10' wide so plan accordingly when you plant for room to fill in. It makes a nice choice for hedges or buffer plantings and also a pretty accent shrub. It produces small, white flowers in the summer and dark purple plum-like fruit in the fall. It produces more fruit when planted in full sun. While it is adaptable to a variety of landscape conditions, it is drought tolerant, but does best in moist but well drained sandy soils.
