This long-lived perennial is a very robust perennial shrubby like wildflower found throughout Florida. This plant can get quite tall - up to 5 or 6'. It has very showy white flowers with black flecks - hence the name salt and pepper. It does go dormant in the winter. When it gets leggy, it is good to prune a little. It likes part sun to fullsun, moderately salt tolerant and moist to dry soil. It will reseed itself. It is heavily used by butterflies, skippers, bees, and wasps for nectar as it has a very high nectar value. It blooms year-round if the plant doesn't go dormant.
