The Slash Pine is Florida's native pine tree. It can be found from South Carolina to central Florida in mesic flatwoods on pond or stream margins. This pine enjoys poorly-drained moist soil in full sun to partial shade. Slash Pines are a perennial evergreen. They bloom yellow, green and brown between the months of January and April. These pines grow between 30-55 ft in height. Slash pine serves as a home for many animals and produces seeds that provide food for birds and other wildlife.
