Twinflower (Dyschoriste oblongifolia) is a Florida native perennial related to the snapdragon. True to its name, it produces blossoms in pairs with cute light purple tubular flowers with dark purple or blue spots on the lower lip. It is easy to grow as a ground cover or as a base plant in pots with taller plants in the same pot.  White tolerant of dry soils, it is not drought tolerant, and extended dry periods are incompatible with keeping it as a landscape plant without watering. With cold enough temperature it will dormant in the winter. Height is around .5 to 1 foot. Does well in partial to full sun.  It is the host plant for Common buckeye butterflies and attracts pollinators for nectar.
